First Hackathon “Hack-a-NEST” Winners

NEST® recently hosted its first hackathon “Hack-a-NEST”to explore the potential of its blockchain technology, the Volary chain. The hackathon saw participation from teams across India who showcased their innovative apps and projects utilizing the features of Volary chain, NEST®’s public blockchain.

The hackathon witnessed an overwhelming response, with 4000 visitors and 40 successful submissions. Ten shortlisted teams were evaluated based on various criteria including the quality of the idea, potential real value, use of GE Brilliant Manufacturing Suite, and implementation, usability, and design of the concept.

After thorough guidance sessions and discussions with NEST®’s technical team, the winning team, 0xc0d3rs, emerged victorious with their innovative solution for product authentication. Comprising of two students from Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, the team’s idea focused on addressing the issue of counterfeit goods in the global trade market. Their decentralized application proposes to track products and verify their authenticity in real-time, utilizing smart contracts deployed on the Volary chain.

The judges were impressed with 0xc0d3rs’ project, noting that they had maintained proper entity diagrams, architecture details, and operations flow. The team’s use of a novel QR code and txHash tie-in mechanism for their supply chain solution was particularly commendable. The project showcased a comprehensive full-stack app that demonstrated the potential of blockchain technology in addressing real-world challenges.

NEST®’s hackathon was an important milestone in exploring the potential of the Volary chain and fostering collaboration with the developer community. The successful event reaffirms NEST®’s commitment to driving innovation and leveraging blockchain technology to solve real-world problems.
